Financial Solutions

The uncertainties of life can get in the way of even the best laid plans.  Today’s volatile economy has affected us all and brings unprecedented challenges to seniors and families who are preparing to move to seniors community.  Belmont Village recognizes these challenges and is presenting financial solutions to help our residents move forward with confidence.

Veterans Benefits

If you are a US veteran or the surviving spouse of a veteran, you may be eligible to receive a monthly pension — up to $1,800 per month — to help pay for personal care such as assisted living.  This pension comes from the Veteran Aid and Attendance Benefit, a Federal program.  More information is available from the US Dept. of Veterans Affairs at 1-800-827-1000 or www.va.gov.  If you would like application assistance, your Belmont Village community relations associate can provide contact information for a reputable consulting company to help guide you through the process.

Elderlife Financial Services

Simple, convenient financing options are available from a recognized leader in financial services.  This plan is ideal for those who need rent support while they wait for other benefits to begin or are in the process of selling a home.  Flexible plans make it easy to tailor to best fit a family’s budget.  Find out more at www.elderlifefinancial.com

LifeCare Funding Group

A Life Settlement can provide seniors and families with peace of mind during a time of transition or financial crisis.  The liquidation of a life insurance policy through a Life Settlement can act as a “funding bridge” to help cover the costs of retirement and senior living services when other assets such as a home or stocks are underperforming or difficult to sell.  Visit www.lifecarefunding.com for more information.

Companion Living at Belmont Village

Roommates at Belmont Village enjoy fun and friendships at lower monthly rates without sacrificing any of Belmont’s signature amenities, programs or services.  Companion Living is suited for twosomes — roommates can maintain their personal spaces in dedicated suite apartments.

Gift Tax Exemption

Family members can pitch in toward the cost of assisted living and take advantage of the IRS gift tax exemption.  In 2009, individuals can provide gifts of up to $13,000 per person per year without paying a federal gift tax.  Note: This tip is for information purposes only and should not be considered tax advice. Please consult your tax advisor for more information.

For more information about these programs, please contact a Community Relations Associate at the Belmont Village nearest you.
