Jeanne's Jog shows heart, raises $$

Jeanne Hansen, Belmont Village senior executive director - Chicago, celebrated her 50th birthday with heart in April, hosting a festival of fitness and fun for all ages, and raising $4,100 for the American Heart Association.

As a healthcare administrator with more than 25 years of experience in working with older adults, and because of her own family’s history of heart disease, Jeanne knows firsthand the toll it can take.

“As my birthday approached, I realized that I have so much to be thankful for – most of all my health.  I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate my first 50 years than by promoting a healthy lifestyle and trying to make a difference for families, like mine, who are affected by heart disease in its many forms,” Jeanne said.

With that thought in mind, she sprinted forward to create “Jeanne’s Jog,” a 5K run, walk or wheel around Belmont Village at Geneva Road in Carol Stream, Illinois.  The American Heart Association received 100% of the entry fees, and participants of all ages came together to show their support.

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White was the official starter of Jeanne’s Jog, and the Jesse White Tumblers (pictured), performed at the celebration. Adding more fun to the festivities were a disc jockey, face painter and balloon artist.

Happy 50th Birthday, Jeanne!  Thank you for sharing your heart!
