Shana Tova!

Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish spiritual New Year, which in 2009 begins at sundown on Friday, Sept. 18 and ends at nightfall on Sunday, Sept. 20. Literally translated, it means “Head of the Year,” and in the Jewish tradition, Rosh Hashanah is considered both a solemn and happy day. It is a time for introspection, asking for forgiveness, giving forgiveness, resolving to do better, remembering God is King and Judge, and praying for a healthy and happy year to come. Those observing the Jewish New Year are solemn in their repentance, but happy in their confidence that God is merciful and good and that there will be more opportunities for good deeds in the year to come.

In observance of Rosh Hashanah, Belmont Village says “Shana Tova,” wishing a good year to all.
