At Belmont Village, our job is to provide our residents with the support they need to continue to lead the self-directed and personally fulfilling lives they want. Each Belmont Village is supported by a Director of Resident Care Services who manages and maintains Belmont's high standards for support, which include:
Licensed Nurse Onsite 24/7
Having a licensed nurse on-site gives us the ability to provide diabetes care, as well as support for other chronic conditions - a level of care not always found in Assisted Living. Our nurses administer medications, including insulin, perform wellness checks, communicate with physicians, and attend to any health concerns that arise. Each of our nurses is a Belmont Village employee. Knowing that a nurse is available gives our residents confidence to enjoy their independence to the fullest. And it gives their families peace of mind that comes from knowing their loved ones are supported by a well-trained, licensed staff.
Personal Assistance Liaisons (PALs)
Belmont Village PALs are comprehensively trained to provide hands-on help with the activities of daily living. Additionally, our PALs undergo specialized training to familiarize them with the signs and symptoms of diabetes, so that they can help monitor well-being. They report directly to our nurses and are the primary caregivers for our residents, providing respectful and compassionate daily assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, transferring and more.
Staff Selection and Training
All staff members are employees of Belmont Village and undergo a careful selection and screening process. Each community employee then receives a minimum of 40 hours of PAL training through an industry-leading program specially designed to foster empathy for aging while covering job skills, safety, hospitality, communications, and personal and business values. Staff members who work with Alzheimer's residents receive additional, specialized training. Employees receive continuing education at the on-site Center for Learning.
