American Heroes: Portraits of Service

Photography by Thomas Sanders

In Fall 2008, Belmont Village met a remarkable young photographer on a mission - to capture the images and personal stories of World World II veterans - regardless of rank and service area - with the ultimate goal of preserving them in a book. Intriqued by Tom's mission, talent and insight, and captivated by the opportunity to help our residents share their stories, we commissioned him to photograph our veterans in Belmont Village communities throughout the country. Tom set out to create the striking images you see here, a selection from the nearly 300 portraits he has produced. The photos now hang in galleries at our communities - each one presenting the unique and compelling stories of the residents within.

Touchdown for NFL Retirees

In February 2008, the NFL Alliance, comprised of the NFL, NFL Players Association, Pro Football Hall of Fame and NFL Alumni Association, announced a series of enhancements to the NFL disability benefits program to further address the medical and disability needs of retired NFL players. Assisted Living and Alzheimer's care were among those enhancements.

After a comprehensive review of leaders in the Assisted Living industry, Belmont Village was selected to be a designated provider of the NFL Player Care Plan. We are proud to have been chosen and are committed to providing quality care, along with specific benefits to make that care more accessible. And because we recognize that many former players are also adult children who may be caring for elderly family members themselves, we have extended the benefits that we provide to include their immediate family.

Belmont Village Westwood Now Open

Belmont Village Senior Living recently celebrated the opening of its twentieth community – the fifth in Greater Los Angeles – on Wilshire Blvd. in the heart of Westwood. The building made its public debut during a two-day grand opening celebration Saturday, July 25 and Sunday July 26. Belmont Village Westwood is an example of successful community collaboration with the UCLA Emeriti and Retirees Joint Housing Committee, who encouraged the development of senior housing near the campus, with Westwood United Methodist Church who made the site available and with the neighboring Holmby-Westwood Property Owners Association, who became active participants in helping to shape the project.
