Tala Recognizes Belmont Village Caregiver

Texas Assisted Living Association Honors Houston Native with Hero Aide Award

HOUSTON, TX — Industry professionals, consumers and family members gathered in San Antonio on April 8, 2015 at the Texas Assisted Living Associations (TALA) Annual Conference to put a spotlight on assisted living and recognize individuals who exemplify excellence in service with the TALA Hero Awards. “Heroes” are recognized in eight categories including Executive Director, Nurse, Chef, Activity Director and Aide/Care Associate. Out of numerous nominees from across Texas, nine-year Belmont Village Senior Living employee, Willie Lusk, was presented with the 2015 Hero Aide award for her outstanding work and high-quality service as a caregiver.

“Willie truly exemplifies the best in assisted living,” said President and CEO of TALA, Gail Harmon. “She was nominated by a resident’s family member showing how impactful care givers can be, to not only residents but their families as well.”

Throughout her years as a Personal Assistance Liaison (PAL) at Belmont Village West University, Houston, Willie has been awarded multiple times as employee of the month and best trainer, and has been recognized often for perfect attendance. Her leadership skills, passion for care giving and work ethic have made her an integral part of the West University assisted living community.

“Willie is very deserving of this award,” said Belmont Village Senior Executive Director, Rachelle Park. “Every day I see her go above and beyond for residents to make sure they feel comfortable and satisfied. She’s also a strong leader and a team player – just a great asset to our staff.”

“Being a caregiver is second-nature to me and my passion, which is why I became a PAL at Belmont Village,” said Lusk. “I look forward to coming to work every day because I enjoy interacting with the residents and getting to be a positive influence on their day.”
