Bill Shinmori

Captain, U.S. Air Force
1955-1975
I loved flying. I enjoyed the freedom of it—nothing tying me down, just moving through the air. I felt like I was doing something good for my country. I was an F4 Phantom pilot stationed all over, including patrolling the North and South Korean border. Later, I participated in negotiations between the Japanese and American governments. We would meet often in downtown Tokyo to review the terms of what was expected of each government and the role of the US in Japan after WWII.
