“I served in the Naval Reserve until I entered the U.S. Naval Academy in 1962 and graduated in 1966 with a B.S. in Naval Sciences. I also graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1972 with an M.S. in Oceanography. Beginning with two deployments to Vietnam, my career was spent on destroyers in engineering and operations departments. I also served on an amphibious squadron staff and a cruiser destroyer group/battle group staff. My final assignment was as the gas turbine/new construction officer for the Commander, Naval Surface Force Pacific.”
