Dear Patricia,

When my dear Joan, my love of 66 years and my wife of 57, passed three years ago, I was lost and alone for the first time in my life. I carried on the best I could but was deteriorating physically and mentally. In April, my children in New York and California convinced me that it would be best for me to move to California to live with my oldest son and daughter-in-law in Thousand Oaks. They took great care of me, but we all soon realized that I needed more help and professional care than they could provide.

I was initially extremely resistant to the idea of assisted living to be honest. Coming to Belmont Village changed all of that for me. Living here for but three months has been nothing short of life saving and life changing. The staff always goes out of their way to make me feel safe, cared for, vital, and simply special. I no longer feel alone. Everyday, I feel better physically, mentally, and emotionally. Most of all, I feel like I am part of something truly special – a family.
