Belmont Village Senior Living Rancho Palos Verdes held a 12-hour bike-a-thon last month called the Bike to End Alzheimer’s Fundraiser. The event used stationary bikes to symbolize the challenging journey that those with the disease and their caregivers face every day, a press release said.

Participants on June 21 rode for 15 minute increments for a minimum donation of $10. The Rancho Palos Verdes team, which included staff, residents, families and friends raised $1,080 toward the company’s overall donation to the Alzheimer’s Association. All 24 Belmont Village communities in the U.S. took part in the fundraiser with a company-wide total of $18K raised. One hundred percent of the proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, the release said.
