Senior living community tops out in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood

Lincoln Park Community Update

Belmont Village Senior Living has topped out its seven-story senior living community at 700 W. Fullerton Avenue in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. Contractor W.E. O’Neil completed the concrete structure with the final roof placement and joined with Belmont Village to thank the subcontractors who helped reach the milestone at a recent safety luncheon.

“We’re excited to reach the topping out of our fifth Chicagoland community, and we’re particularly pleased to achieve this milestone with W.E. O’Neil,” said Patricia Will, Belmont Village founder and CEO. “Belmont Village Lincoln Park is our first community in the Chicago metro area and, as an urban site, it brings unique opportunities. We’ve worked with W.E. O’Neil for years and together we have an excellent track record of creating exceptional, high functioning communities for our residents that also fit beautifully into the neighborhood.”

The 120,500-square-foot property is scheduled to open in the summer of 2019 and will provide 149 units of assisted living and memory care for area residents. The community will reside on the site of the original Nellie Black building, which housed nurses and interns on the Children’s Memorial Hospital campus.

In honor of the original building, Belmont Village has worked with architect Antunovich Associates to closely replicate its style from 1932, incorporating design elements and salvaged pieces from the Nellie Black building with modern construction. The community will feature expansive common areas indoors and out, along with a variety of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartment plans.

“It is a true pleasure to be working on our eighth project with Belmont Village,” said Lou Reiner, executive vice president of operations at W.E. O’Neil. “We look forward to continuing our long-standing relationship with Belmont Village and to producing well-designed and well-built buildings throughout the country.”
