Belmont Village Artist Stories Sachs

Bernard “Bernie” Sachs, M.D.: Artist in Residence

Sculptor
Belmont Village Westwood – Los Angeles

“In 1987 I started to sculpt in aluminum and bronze casting and then in 1993 I switched to stone. My best memory was winning first prize at the Art for the Social Justice Competition. It was for a sculpture called Treblinka Fossil #299,873. It represented charred remains of one of the victims recovered in an archeological dig. My last piece entitled Alchemy.com was completed in 2002 and weighed 180 pounds.”

Dr. Berndard A. Sachs was Clinical Professor of Medicine at New York’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine and later Clinical Professor of Medicine at UC Irvine College of Medicine. Dr. Sachs was active in research, publishing more than 60 scientific papers.
