Belmont Village Artist Stories Beretta

Helen Joy Berretta

Painter
Belmont Village Memphis

“I must create! It’s what drives me. I have always had such a strong desire to paint. The most gratifying moment was when a person, who was not a member of my family or a friend, acknowledged my paintings as true talent. I began to get clients and commissions and mounted a one-woman exhibit. It is overwhelming to know that my paintings are hung in homes throughout the mid-South. My artist father passed his love of art to me and now I have passed this onto my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Even now, after my stroke, my desire to paint and to draw has not diminished. I have a new love of sketching – especially of my grandchildren.
